Amateur Artists of Bay Area (AABA) a talented local group of actors presented a fundraising Tamil comedy play “Chithappa Weds Chithi”. The show was a big hit and received great reviews by everyone in the attendance. The play was written by T.T. Ravi and directed by T.S. Ram.

We thank the actors, sponsors and the patrons for supporting a good cause. The money raised from this event will be used to fund Cancer Screening Center in Thiruvannamalai.

Bharatanatyam students of Ms. Vidhya Venkatesan staged a classical Indian dance ballet “vandE krishnam” to raise funds for CIF.

The performance was captivating and the audience had a lot of praise for the students. We could appreciate the amount of work the students had put in to stage this show. 

We want to thank Ms. Vidhya Venkatesan and her students for their efforts to raise funds for CIF. The money raised from this event will be used to fund Cancer Screening Center in Thiruvannamalai.

The ASCO Post published an article highlighting the stellar career of Dr. V. Shanta and calling her oncology pioneer. The article titled “Oncology Pioneer V. Shanta, MD, Has Long Championed Access to Quality Cancer Care” appeared on January 25, 2019.

In the article Dr. Shanta has recalled her life’s journey starting from early years and how the meeting with Dr. S. Krishnamurthi was the turning point of her life. She also has valuable advice to young oncologists. “The younger generation must ensure that the wonderful technologic advances they have are used not because they are available, but because they add value and are cost-effective.” She also advises them to “Treat patients as individual human beings, not as a disease state. Following the tradition CIF started the new year by distributing free coffee to the devotees of Sunnyvale Hindu Temple.

After a nice darshan devotees stopped by the booth and had a hot cup of coffee. We thank them for stopping by and saying hello to our dedicated volunteers. Some of them also made a donation for our cause. Our heartfelt appreciation to them.

We wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year and wish you success in all your endeavors.
