Cancer Institute Foundation joined forces with Bay Area Tamil Manram and held its annual fundraising mega Tamil light music event on August 9, 2014. The event featured highly talented music group VDAZE. Tamil cinema movie star Siddarth was the special guest and Emcee at the event. Cancer Institute Foundation conducted its annual cooking competition. Preliminary round was held on June 19, 2014 and the finals was held on June 26, 2014. The finals was held at Young Chefs Academy, Sunnyvale, CA. Find out more information about the competition in the flyer.
Gaanavaaridhi School of Music, lead by vocalist / carnatic music teacher Smt. Bhuvana Ganesh in Shrewsbury, MA conducted its annual day carnatic music function as a fundraising concert for Cancer.[insert group photo]
More than 60 students of all levels – beginners to advanced – presented various krithis. Groups of young kids came on stage one after the other and performed 2 or 3 songs each without any interruption. The event had been appropriately named – Naadhaamrutham – Music (Naadham) as a means to wellbeing; music as a medicine (Amrutham) for keeping oneself healthy. True to this spirit, Gaanavaaridhi students rendered nearly 4 hours of continuous “Amrutha Dhare”! It was a fulfulling musical evening.

Boston chapter of Cancer Institute Foundation conducted a fundraising event Thaka Dhimitha. The event included classical, hindustani, instrumental and light music, raga & tala jugalbandi, and various dance forms Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, and folk.
